Re: FFP Happy Holidays

Yes, Craig and Merry Christmas to you and all Fishnetters too. Yes I
continue to fly my Dakota Hawk. Average once a week. Over the last year
some of you know I have been into a low key and successful project to
reduce drag on the Dakota Hawk Airframe. With lots of little cleanup
fairings etc Speeds have been increased significantly as well as cruising
range too. Nice added benefit, the plane always pretty quiet in flight has
become quieter and smoother too. All those little turbulences made noise
and imparted some vibration to the airframe---- most of them are gone now.

For those of you still building and those who are on the fence to start
hope the coming year will see you making progress and if you haven't started
do so. Life is too short to let it pass you by. Like they say it only
comes around once.

This last fall I finally insulated my hangar [ Wisconsin you know]. Used
Pink solid foam against the steel, and installed a gas fired unit heater.
Works well and really is a pleasure now. Heats fast enough that I let it
coast[ not heated] and in about 30 minutes it is up to 50-55Degrees F. In a
closed space, like a hangar with no wind blowing I find this very
comfortable. Changes my whole outlook about 'going tothe hangar' in the
winter time. We have had a warm winter so far with the evenings usually not
dropping below about 18 degrees F and Days peaking up at 35Degrees F. This
is at least 10 degrees warmer than average for here. So far the coldest I
have seen the hangar drop to is 38 Degrees. That big concrete floor is
quite a massive temperature heat sink.

Well that is about it from here in Hudson, Wisconsin. Any of you Fisher
builders out there--------- lets get 'cracken'. Also lets hear from
you ---- what is going on with your projects and for you Flyers have you
been 'up'. Anxious to hear from you.

Tom Marson.
